Questions

Scottsdale electrical questions

Utility, permits, estimates and pricing: straight answers before you call.

All questions on our FAQ

Who provides electric service in Scottsdale?

Scottsdale is split between two utilities: SRP serves much of central and south Scottsdale, and APS serves most of north Scottsdale plus a pocket of south Scottsdale between Thomas and Chaparral roads, from 64th Street to Hayden Road. For a panel upgrade, SRP’s service specifications say to contact both SRP and the permitting authority first, and SRP reconnects power once both approve the work; APS energizes a new, relocated or replaced meter only after the inspection authority approves the wiring. An EV charger that needs a larger service or a new panel follows the same steps.

Who issues electrical permits in Scottsdale?

Residential electrical permits in Scottsdale are issued by the City of Scottsdale Planning & Development department (Permit Services and the One Stop Shop at 7447 E. Indian School Road). Applications go through the city’s Scottsdale SPUR portal. The city fines work completed without a permit an amount equal to double the permit fee.

Do I need a permit for electrical work in Arizona?

Permits are required for all major electrical work. At The Wire Guy Electric, we can handle the entire permitting process for you. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection, and make sure everything passes.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. Contact us today to get a free quote. We'll come out, look at the job, and give you a straight answer on what it'll cost. No pressure and no obligation.

Do you have any hidden fees?

No. What you see on the invoice is what you get. If any changes are made to your project, we will update it promptly and send it over for you to review.
